BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – After rallying back from a 13-3 deficit in the first match, the Bronson Lady Viking volleyball team captured their second state championship Saturday, beating Monroe St Mary Catholic Central 3-0 at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.
After falling behind early, Bronson rallied to win the first set 25-22, then took the next two sets 25-21, 26-24. Monroe St Mary Catholic Central was the defending Class C volleyball champion.
Kirin Cekander led the Vikings with 11 kills and 15 digs, while Jill Pyles had 9 kills and Kiana Mayer 8. Alexa Ratkowski had 34 assists and 2 service aces.
Bronson won their first championship in 2009.
Battle Creek St Phillip had their string of 9 consecutive Class D state championships snapped Saturday, losing to Leland 3-0.
