COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After a big send-off through downtown Coldwater on the way to their first ever appearance in the Division 3 MHSAA football semi-finals, the buses for both the Coldwater football team and high school marching band Saturday morning made an about face and headed home. Jackson High School officials requested the Saturday 1 p.m. game be postponed because of road conditions and the amount of snow on the field at Withington Stadium, the host site for the Cardinals clash with Chelsea.
After more than an hour of consultation with officials from both school and the Michigan High School Athletic Association, Sunday at 2 p.m. was picked as the reschedule date and time. Sunday afternoon games are rarely allowed by the MHSAA. The Coldwater-Chelsea game was the only one postponed Saturday.
There had been some speculation that the game would be moved to Harper Creek High School and played Saturday evening, but that didn’t come to pass. Harper Creek was hosting the Division 6 semi-final between Clinton and Grand Rapids NorthPoint Christian Saturday afternoon.
AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB will have live coverage of the game Sunday, with our pregame coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m.
