COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, the winter season schedule tips off this week with a full slate of girls basketball games on tap for tomorrow night with all of the county teams in action.
The fall season finished up with Saturday’s MHSAA football finals at Ford Field and the remaining four Division Championship games including the last contest of the day as Orchard Lake St. Mary’s defended their Division 3 title with a 29-12 victory over Chelsea, the team that defeated the Coldwater Cardinals a week ago yesterday in the semifinals.
The Cardinal’s best ever 12-1 record this fall has been spotlighted with additional individual recognition as quarterback/defensive back Luke Beckhusen and fullback/linebacker Sam DeMeester received Honorable Mention on the Associated Press Division 3 and 4 All-State Football Team.
Tuesday’s tip off for girls basketball includes a Branch County matchup as Coldwater opens at Quincy and we’ll have the game on the radio with our live coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. Also on the schedule tomorrow night, it’s Bronson at Sturgis, and Union City at Colon.
The boys basketball starts the next week.
