COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Thanksgiving holiday weekend ended last night with no reports from Branch County law enforcement agencies of any serious injury traffic accidents during the period. One person was hurt early today in a car-deer crash on I-69 south of Coldwater.
First indications from a caller in the vehicle to 9-1-1 indicated a passenger was in and out of consciousness after hitting her head on the dashboard. However, it turned out the minor injuries were just the result of the airbag deploying and no one had to be taken to the hospital. The collision happened around 4 a.m. near the 11-and-a-half mile marker on northbound I-69.
There were plenty of traffic stops around the county over the weekend with the beefed up enforcement targeting drinking and driving offenders, although the booking logs from the Branch County Sheriff’s Department from Friday, Saturday and yesterday showed only two motorists lodged at the county jail on OUIL charges.
