COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – 2015 is winding down but the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities is ramping up in a major way with a tremendous amount of engineering work in the year ahead to prepare for the 2017 opening of the Clemens Pork production facility. The BPU has made a significant capital investment for water and wastewater and electrical projects which will be going out for bid so the utility’s construction to connect services to Clemens can start in the spring.
Board of Public Utilities Director Paul Beckhusen suggests that if the Coldwater community thought there have been a lot of street and sewer projects and the related blockades and road closings this fall, the requirements for the contracts for Clemens may require even more patience in 2016. Beckhusen says it basically amounts to the cost of growth and asks the public to hang in there and focus on the great things to come once it’s all done.
The new utility infrastructure system will also lay the groundwork for added expansion if and when it comes in the area of the Clemens plant near I-69 and Jonesville Road.
