QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Health insurance plans for Quincy Village employees are now in place for 2016 and the village is set to hire a school crossing guard. The actions were approved at last night’s December Quincy Village Council meeting.
Village Manager Eric Zuzga says the council approved opting out of PA 152 insurance limits for 2016 with the intention to comply with the hard cap limits specified under the Act which has been in place since 2011. However, Zuzga adds that being able to meet the limits is a close call and they want to insure that there is no issue with exceeding the limits if they have, in his words, “a bad year” from a usage standpoint.
The school crossing guard position for service at the Jefferson/Fulton Street intersection was approved and authorized for the remainder of the current school year.
In other action, the Village Council passed the requested Fire Department budget, which Zuzga explained contains plans for a slight spending decrease from the current year. And the council okayed the DDA purchase of a parking lot from Gale Cutcher. The property is located behind Vozar Insurance and has been used by the public for many years with Cutcher having paid for snow removal and maintenance which will now become the responsibility of the village.
