QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – It was an ominous sounding fire alarm toned out shortly before 8:30 a.m.Tuesday by Branch County Central Dispatch to the Quincy Fire Department with a report that there was smoke and flame showing from the roof of Patty’s Apparel and Bridal shop downtown on U.S. 12. However, it was thankfully only a very minor fire at the front corner roof of the building near a string of Christmas lights.
An extension cord for the lights that was attached to a street light pole shorted out and caught on fire but quickly burned itself out. There was no damage to the structure.
Firemen were on scene for less than half an hour.
