COLDWATER LAKE, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police are continuing their investigation after a pickup truck missed a curve and ended up in Coldwater Lake early Christmas morning causing serious injuries to the driver and his passenger. Troopers believe alcohol was a factor in the crash of the 2000 GMC Sierra that occurred around 12:30 a.m. Friday on Warren Road at Beck Lane in Branch County’s Ovid Township. The driver was identified as 60-year old David Dunton and the passenger was 55-year old Sally Kay Roberts, both of Reading. The accident report said they appeared to be highly intoxicated and were heavily bleeding from the face. They were taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County for treatment and then transferred to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne. Dunton today was reported in good condition while Parkview this morning did not list Roberts as a patient. State Police said Dunton is expected to face a charge of operating while intoxicated.
