COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -About a dozen of Branch County’s busiest building contractors have a big beef with the county’s primary building inspector and now County Commissioners know all about it. The county board yesterday held its first working meeting of 2016 and it was standing room only for the session as the contractors and several business owners laid into inspector Steve Buller, who wasn’t present.
Leading off the parade of speakers during the public comment period was Billy Avra, who complained about Buller’s manners and attitude. Avra, who’s been in business for more than 30 years, claimed that on a recent project, Buller was very rude to him and the property owner and said he over ruled the previous building inspector at another job he had done.
Branch County administrator Bud Norman is the director of the Building Inspection Department and says he’s meeting today with Buller to discuss the situation to get his side of the story. Buller is privately contracted by the department and not directly employed by the county.
