QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The effort to extend the geographic information system (GIS) mapping technology system in Branch County continues with the latest action taken last night by the Quincy Village Council. The Council approved signing the GIS system license agreement with Coldwater.
Quincy Village Manager Eric Zuzga says it’s the final step in a two year joint effort with Coldwater, Bronson, and Union City to extend the GIS system to each of the smaller communities. According to Zuzga, the development of the system was funded by a grant from the state and will be continued in many of the communities with the stormwater, asset management and wastewater or SAW grant.
The licensing agreement provides a framework for operating the system. Zuzga says they will continue to work in Quincy on development and extending the uses of the GIS system.
Also last night, Quincy’s Capital Improvement Plan was introduced and will be discussed over the next two months. It’s scheduled to be approved as part of the budget document in March. And Laura Loomis was appointed to an open seat on the Joint Planning Commission.
