COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There’s a new study that suggests Branch County is among the best places in Michigan to own a home. The report was issued by SmartAsset, a New York financial technology company. Branch County made the rankings at number five in Michigan.
The second annual study compares average rent and home prices in counties across the U.S. to find the places where buying makes the most sense. According to the SmartAsset figures, the average monthly mortgage payment in Branch County is $421 while the average monthly rent is $950. The study also placed the average home price in the county at nearly $104,000.
Mason County ranked number one in Michigan for the best county to own a home, followed by Hillsdale County and then it was Alcona and Eaton Counties.
