COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan State Police are investigating a series of vending machine larcenies at highway rest stop areas in southwest Michigan, including the Michigan Welcome Center on I-69 in southern Branch County.
Detectives say the incidents happened between 5:30 p.m. Monday, January 25 and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 26 at rest stops on I-94 and I-69. The Coldwater Welcome Center is located six miles north of the Michigan-Indiana border. State Police say the suspects removed change from the vending machines after prying them open in the overnight hours.
