COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says childhood lead poisoning has been a discussion topic on the state and national level for several months in light of the lead in the water crisis in Flint and according to the health department, many people in the tri-county area are beginning to question if they should be concerned.
The agency has posted two new frequently asked questions pages on its website with the FAQ’s about childhood lead screening and how to have a lead safe home. In addition, it has also linked the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services data chart book “2013 Data Report on Childhood Lead Testing and Elevated Levels” which provides both county and zip code level data for Michigan. The resource is designed to help provide clarity about the lead data being reported in the media.
The staff at the Health Department offices in Coldwater, Hillsdale, and Three Rivers are also available to answer questions. The agency’s website is at www.bhsj.org.
