DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – Health officials say they have no confirmed cases of the Zika virus in Michigan. That’s despite a report this week of a woman from Grosse Pointe Farms being hospitalized from what could be the virus. Officials say it’s not confirmed.
The mosquito-spread virus produces mild or no symptoms to most people infected, but may be linked to a rare birth defect that causes brain damage and an abnormally small head to develop on newborns.
