COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The planned renovation of the City of Coldwater’s tennis courts to begin this spring is nearly ready to cash in on the money needed to pay for the project thanks to an expected boost from the state.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and the city of Coldwater on Monday announced a new crowdfunding campaign through the Michigan-based crowdfunding platform Patronicity. It will support the project to purchase new lighting, fencing, and resurfacing of the Heritage Park tennis courts, which are more than 4 decades old.
If the campaign reaches its crowdfunding goal of $50,000 by March 15, the project will win a matching grant with funds made possible by MSHDA and MEDC’s Public Spaces Community Places program. For project details and to donate, you can go on-line at www.Patronicity.com/ColdwaterTennis or write a check and give through the Branch County Community Foundation.
The current total estimated amount of money raised since last fall in the community has reached $700,000. The end goal with construction to start by the middle of May is a minimum of $800,00 and up to $900,000, pending the final number of courts, believed to be 8, the current number or maybe 9, contingent as well on endowment savings.
