COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Despite last week’s winter storm that dumped almost one foot of snow in the area, the milder winter is saving the Branch County Road Commission money.
Going into last week, road commission officials said expenses are 64% lower than last winter. Through the middle of the month, the road commission had spent only $382,000 of its $680,000 budget. The two previous years, expenses have far exceeded the road commission budgets. Last year the department was 21% over budget for snow removal, while the 2013-2014 season was 63% over budget.
