STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A Walmart employee in Sturgis is recovering from a stab wound to the neck after he tried to stop a suspected shoplifter who was apparently armed with a knife. Witnesses were able to give dispatchers a description of the suspect, who fled the store on foot, and responding officers were able to take the suspect into custody. The 48-year-old from Kendallville, Indiana has been arrested for attempted murder, armed robbery and two counts of resisting and obstructing police. He was booked at the St. Joseph County Jail.
