COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Classrooms across Branch County were full of readers yesterday, for the Branch County United Way’s fourth annual United We Read effort. A new record of 231 volunteer adult readers were in every preschool through 5th grade classroom in the county to show kids the importance and joy of reading.
According to the United Way, a child who is behind in reading in 4th grade will rarely catch-up and is 80% more likely to drop out of school.
