KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – A west Michigan economist says new industrial orders are a good sign as the local economy shows continued slow growth. Dr Brian Long, a business analyst and President of the Marketing and Management Institute in Kalamazoo, says even though there is slow growth around here, it is outpacing the rest of the state and the nation.
Long says his February survey of local industries shows the economy finally shifting into fourth gear after the annual holiday slowdown. He also says the best indicator of things to come was an uptick in new orders…
Long says a number of local auto parts makers are still working at full to nearly full capacity, but he says office furniture production may have peaked at below full capacity.
