COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A new security scanner will soon be in place at the Branch County Courthouse. The Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday decided to put a bid of just over $14,000 from Auto Clear of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois on next Tuesdays agenda for final action.
Branch County Administrator Bud Norman said it was one of two bids submitted to replace the unit that ceased to operate on Wednesday. Norman said the old scanner had a band across the screen which made it tough for the security officer to see the material that was going through.
Norman felt it was best to buy a new scanner instead of leasing one. It’s believed the old scanner was at least 15 years old.
