COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The 2016 County Health Rankings released last week by the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency had mixed results for Branch County.
While Branch County has improved to 51st among Michigan counties in the Health Outcomes area, the county sank to 64th in the area of Health Factors. Health Outcomes takes in such factors as the length and quality of life as measured by the number of premature deaths and self-reports of poor or fair health as well as poor physical and mental health days.
Health Factors covers behavioral risk factors related to smoking and excessive drinking.
The County Health Rankings are a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
