COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After building up a 3-0 halftime lead, the Coldwater girls varsitysoccer team gave up 3 second half goals and tied Sturgis 3-3 Wednesday night. The Cardinals led 3-2 with 15 minutes left in the game when lightening delayed play for 45 minutes. After play resumed, Sturgis scored with 5 minutes to play to earn the tie.
Malorie Rzepka had one goal and one assist, while Megan Hoath and Samantha Rodesiler also scored. Madison Marsh and Lina Heaselmann each had one assist. Nadia Kiersey had 5 saves in goal.
Coldwater is now 0-0-2 on the season. They’re off until April 13, when they play at Quincy in the annual “Battle of the Birds”.
The Coldwater JV team improved its record to 2-0 with a 1-0 win over Sturgis Wednesday. Carlie Wilson had the lone goal for Coldwater.

Union City 4, B.C. St. Philip 2 (at Bailey Park)Colton Johns got the win in relief as he allowed no runs and no hits in four innings of work while striking out three. Seth Bruce pitched the final inning to get the save. Eli Way stole three bases while Colin Kreger had a pair of stolen bases.

First game winning pitcher Hannah Economou struck out ten. She helped her own cause with a double and three RBIs. She also homered in the nightcap. Mikayla Signor had a double and a triple in the first game along with a double in the second contest.
Zoe Aseltine smacked a homer in the second game while Katie Newberry had three hits and five stolen bases.

Sand Creek 78, Quincy 57
Quincy’s Bryce Ruhl won the long jump with a distance of 19 feet, 11 ½ inches and the high jump as he cleared five-feet-eight-inches. Michael Fisher won the 400 in a time of 58.3. Evan Henning, Anthony Paradine, Drake Crabbe and Bryce Bassage combined to win the 1600 relay.

Quincy 92, Sand Creek 45
Quincy winners were Kayla Hayes in the shot put (33 feet, three inches), Ali Silva in the discus (87 feet, 10 ½ inches), Jessica Holcomb in the long jump (15 feet, eight inches) and the 200 (30.11), Katie Spaulding in the 100 hurdles (17.77) and the 300 hurdles (54.96), Mackenzie Horsfall in the 100 (14.07), Haley Bean in the 1,600 (6:18.85), Claire Supianoski in the 400 (1:07.09) and Harmony Harpster in the 800 (2:53.48). Quincy also won the 3200, 800 and 1600 relays.
Union City took part in the Hillsdale Invitational on Wednesday. Jalen Boes, Gavin Hooker, Elijah Harris and Thomas Anderson teamed up to win the 1,600 Relay while Harris won the long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 10 inches. Anderson was also third in the 200 while Boes was second in the 400.
