COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council introduced an ordinance on Monday night that creates a new franchise agreement between the City and Consumers Energy. Under terms of the agreement, Consumers would continue to provide electrical service to residents of the Pilot Knob area. Consumers would also be providing electricity to a new service center it will be constructing on 71 acres at the corner of Jonesville Road and North Michigan Avenue.
In conjunction with the service center project, the current property owners and Consumers were granted a PA 425 jurisdiction transfer from Coldwater Township into the city, prior to Consumers closing on the land transfer.
In other business, an Industrial Facilities Tax Abatement Certificate was granted to Clemens Food Group for the purchase of equipment and machinery for its pork processing plant currently under construction.
