COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Miller-Davis Company of Kalamazoo submitted the low bid of $908,000 for the reconstruction of the Heritage Park tennis courts in Coldwater on Tuesday. Their bid was one of three that was opened. It was just over the budgeted amount of $900,000 but under the nearly $915,000 that has been raised for the project.
The Coldwater City Council is scheduled to take action on the bids during their next meeting on April 25, 2016.
Work has already started on the courts. The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities recently shut off power to the courts and the lights will not be restored until after the renovation is finished.
Although the courts are expected to still be useable until the full reconstruction start date of May 15th; residents are encouraged to use caution around the construction areas.
Work is scheduled to begin right after the Coldwater High School girls tennis season ends. It’s hoped the new courts will be ready for the boys tennis season which starts in August.
Plans call for the replacement of the existing tennis courts as well as the installation of new lighting and fencing. An endowment for future maintenance will also be established.
