COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There was another agenda item during Wednesday’s Coldwater Historic District Commission meeting beside the Gillespie Funeral Home matter.
The Commission approved a pair of requests from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at 27 East Chicago.
One was for a 28 square foot sign that would be placed on the east facade of the building. Community Services Director and Assistant City Manager Keith Baker said was compliant with zoning.
The Commission also approved a request from the church to remove a decorative white steeple above the historic bell tower.
Helen Guisinger from the church said it was in poor condition and a hazard.
She said the consultant estimated the repairs would cost $60,000 and Guisinger said removing it won’t do anything to the appearance of the church.
