COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – So that repairs can be made on the oldest tornado siren in Coldwater, all of the tornado sirens in the city will be sounded this Friday afternoon.
Coldwater Public Safety Director Mark Bartell says the Branch County Amateur Radio Club detected a problem during the April test.
The radio club monitors the tests which take place on the first Saturday of each month.
Bartell says the siren in question shut off early. It was installed in 1999. The city has replaced two older sirens over the last three years at a cost of about $18,000 each.
Five tornado sirens are operated by the City of Coldwater
