COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater girls varsity soccer team stayed unbeaten Monday with a scoreless draw at home against Edwardsburg. Despite out shooting the Eddies 14-5, the Cardinals weren’t able to get on the scoreboard. Nadia Kiersey made 5 saves in goals as Coldwater’s record goes to 2-0-3 on the season. Edwardsburg is also undefeated at 2-0-2.
The Cardinals open Interstate 8 Conference play at Marshall Wednesday.
The Coldwater JV team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 2-1 win over Edwardsburg. Jayda Kelly and Carlie Wilson each scored, with an assist for Hunter Jenkot.
—BOYS GOLF—
Coldwater’s varsity golf team traveled to Adrian’s Lenawee Country Club on Monday and came away runner ups for the 11-team Maples Invitational firing a team score of 320. Ann Arbor Huron won the event shooting a score of 312. Coldwater was led by Cam Ruge who fired a 1 over par round of 72 which placed him in 2nd place overall. Nolan Duda finished in 5th place shooting a 77. Keagan Dwyer carded an 85, Nick Galliers shot an 86, and Nathan Waterbury rounded out Coldwater’s scoring with an 89. Coldwater returns to action on Wednesday when they will be competing at the Hankard Hills Golf Course in Jackson at the first I – 8 Conference Jamboree of the season.
—GIRLS TENNIS—
COLDWATER 4, MARSHALL 4 (TIE)Winning for Coldwater were Emma Grife at first singles, Sofia Mongardi at second singles, Merlyn Johnson at fourth singles and the third doubles team of Allison Eastmead and Emily Foulk. Gabriel Boston and Brooke Lafferty had a tough three set loss at second doubles, dropping the third set in a tiebreaker.
—BASEBALL AND GIRLS SOFTBALL DISTRICT DRAW—
The draws for the Division Three Baseball and Girls Softball Districts at Homer have been announced. In both sports, Bronson will face Hillsdale and Union City will play Homer on May 31st. Jonesville will face either Bronson or Hillsdale in the semi-finals. Quincy plays the Homer-Union City winner in the other semi-final.
