COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch Intermediate School District Superintendent Joe Lopez is recommending that Career Center Assistant Principal Randy Sowles be named as the Center’s Principal by the B.I.S.D. Board of Education next month.
Lopez said during Wednesdays board meeting that the Career Center staff gave Sowles an ovation when he told them of his decision.
When asked if there would be an assistant principal named, Lopez indicated that will not likely happen for now.
If approved, Sowles will take over as principal for Mike Hoffner who is retiring on June 30th after 38 years with the district.
Hoffner has also been serving as Career Technical Education Director.
Quincy Middle School Principal Jamie Engel was hired as the C.T.E. Director last month. The board on Wednesday approved Engel’s contract which will start on July 1st.
Engel will work with Hoffner before then to help him with the transition.
In other business, Chantel Paxton was elected as Board Treasurer. Jack Faulkner served in that position until his recent death.
