COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -Tornado sirens will sound between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. this Friday so that repairs can be made on the oldest tornado siren in Coldwater.
A test was supposed to have been held last Friday but Coldwater Public Safety Director Mark Bartell says it had to be rescheduled due to the availability of replacement parts.
The Branch County Amateur Radio Club detected a problem with the siren during the monthly test on April 2, 2016. The radio club monitors the tests which take place on the first Saturday of each month.
Bartell says the siren in question shut off early. It was installed in 1999. The city has replaced two older sirens over the last three years at a cost of about $18,000 each.
Five tornado sirens are operated by the City of Coldwater
