COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s varsity golf team traveled to Bedford Valley on Thursday to participate in an Invitational hosted by Gull Lake. Unfortunately, a substantial amount of rain combined with 38 degree temperatures caused the Invitational to be cancelled after eight holes of play.
On the other hand Coldwater’s JV golf team played in the Sturgis Varsity Invitational and came away with a second place finish in the event held at the Island Hills golf course. Coldwater was led by Tanner Bowers with an 83, Collin Warner shot an 89, Kyle Herman had a 91, Alec Keplinger carded a 92, and Jacob Fair rounded out the scoring for Coldwater with a 100. Coldwater’s 355 team total was 2nd to Schoolcraft with shot a 336 for the event. Bronson finished 12th with a 477 score. Brandon Hyska fired a 97 for the Vikings.

Quincy 8, Hillsdale 0
Quincy built a 6-0 halftime lead and ended the match on the mercy rule with about 15 minutes left by adding two more goals in the second half. The Orioles outshot Hillsdale 42-6. Cailyn Hines had two goals and two assists. Julia Hildebrand also had two goals. Other Quincy goals were scored by Cailyn Cook, Meri Michael, Payton Hines, Hannah Kaser, Ally Parrish and Haley Bean. Quincy is now 2-1-1 in the I.S.L. and 5-2-1 overall.

Bronson 5, New Buffalo 3
Bronson winners were Jordyn Fox at #2 singles and Clare Mayes at #4 singles. The Vikings took three out of the four doubles matches. Scoring wins were Alana Cranson and Karly Showalter at number two, Ellary Russell and Grace Shortridge at number three along with Ciarra Hardy and Morgan Hoard at number four.
Coldwater’s match at Jackson Northwest was called off because of the weather. No make up date has been announced.
