COLON, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball Saturday, Union City won the Colon Invitational on Saturday as they defeated the host Magi 6-0 and Pittsford 8-5 in a rain shortened championship game. Colton Johns and Blade Gordon were the winning pitchers. Johns struck out six in the opener and helped his own cause with two hits and two runs scored. Eli Way scored twice and had three stolen bases in the title game.
With the two wins, Union City improved to 10-7. They play at Quincy on Tuesday.

Quincy 7, Kalamazoo Central 0Parma Western 3, Quincy 1
Quincy lost to Parma Western 3-1 in the championship game of the Parma Western Invitational on Saturday. Kaydee Swafford homered for the only Quincy run. The Orioles advanced to the finals by defeating Kalamazoo Central 7-0. Hannah Econonmou was the winning pitcher against the Maroon Giants as she struck out 11. She also had two hits including a home run. Zoe Aseltine doubled while Katie Newberry had two hits with a pair of stolen bases. Victoria Eifrid also had two stolen bases. Quincy is now 13-5.
—BOYS GOLF—
Coldwater finished second out of 11 teams on Saturday at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Battle Creek St. Philip at Binder Park Golf Course. Coldwater had a team score of 316 which was eight strokes behind first place Hastings. Nathan Waterbury and Cam Ruge finished in the top. Waterbury led Coldwater with a 74 followed by Ruge with a 78.
