HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – A Camden woman was injured in a Hillsdale County accident on Wednesday night but an infant in her vehicle escaped injury.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department says 30-year-old Melissa Mae Landers was traveling on East Reading Road west of Foust Road in Cambria Township at about 7:30 p.m. when she reached down to pick something up off the floor.
Deputies say she took her eyes from the road. The vehicle went off the road and struck two trees.
Landers was wearing her seatbelt and the infant passenger was properly restrained in a child safety seat.
Landers was taken to Hillsdale Hospital for the injuries she sustained. Reading firefighters assisted the Sheriff’s Department.
