COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Work crews Monday began tearng out the old tennis courts at Coldwater’s Heritage Park, making way for new courts by this fall. The Coldwater City Council last month approved a contract with Miller Davis Company for construction of the new tennis courts at a cost not to exceed $897,700. Over $900,000 has been raised for the project.
Parrish Excavating is removing the old tennis courts, in addition to removing the nearby Heritage Park Pool. The pool was filled in and a new splash pad will be built on the site. Parrish’s base bid of just under $33,700 for the pool removal was significantly lower than the other bid received because they were the subcontractor for Miller Davis on the excavation of the tennis courts and were already going to be onsite.
It’s hoped the tennis court reconstruction can be finished in time for the start of the boys high school season in August.
