LITCHFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Flint woman was killed Monday night in a Hillsdale County two vehicle crash. The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Jonesville Road east of Squires Road.
According to accident investigators, a 2007 Chrysler 300M four door passenger vehicle driven by 20-year-old Shaquanta Alexis-Marie-Toya Diehl was traveling east when her vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a westbound semi tractor-trailer driven by 59-year-old Sanford Bailey of Greenwood, Indiana in the left front tire. Diehl’s vehicle then went off the road and came to rest in a ditch.
Diehl was pronounced dead at the scene. Bailey was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County.
The accident remains under investigation. Hillsdale County deputies were assisted at the scene by firefighters from Allen Township and Litchfield, the Reading Emergency unit, Life Care Ambulance, Air Care of Kalamazoo and Michigan State Police.
