UNDATED (WTVB) – Branch County’s unemployment rate in April went down .3% to 4.3%, which matched the Michigan unemployment figure according to the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives.
Figures showed the Labor Force and the number of people employed went up slightly. The Labor Force in Branch County went up by 75 workers to 19,200 with 18,350 of those people able to find work.
Last year at this time, Branch County unemployment was at 4.7%.
As for neighboring counties last month, the jobless rate in Calhoun County was 4.1% while it was 4.2% in Hillsdale County and 3.4% in St. Joseph County.
Analyst Doctor Leonidas Murembya says labor force levels were stable over the month and continued to improve considerably over the year in most southwest Michigan labor markets.
