QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A member of the Branch County Sheriff’s Department Posse was injured during Quincy’s Memorial Day Parade.
The name of the injured officer has not been released but Branch County Sheriff John Pollack said in a Facebook posting that the officer was severely injured.
Quincy Police and firefighters attended to the injured officer following the incident on U.S. 12 just west of Arnold.
The member of the volunteer auxiliary was doing routine parade security when for some reason his horse got spooked, reared up and threw the rider on to the ground head first.
The officer was flown by the Samaritan Helicopter to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
