QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A member of the Branch County Sheriff’s Department Posse was injured during Quincy’s Memorial Day Parade on Monday.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says Posse member and Deputy Mike Winter was riding his horse on U.S. 12 just west of Arnold at about 11:20 a.m. when the horse was spooked by an unknown noise.
The horse bucked Winter off. He fell to the ground and hit his head.
The Quincy Police Department, the Quincy Fire Department and Lifecare Ambulance came to Winter’s aid and he was later flown by the Samaritan Helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne with serious injuries.
The member of the volunteer auxiliary was still listed in serious condition on Tuesday at Parkview.
