CAMDEN, MI (WTVB) – A dispute between neighbors over a dog led to a shooting on Tuesday night in Camden. The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department says they were called at about 7:40 p.m .on a report of a man shot with a pellet gun in the 300 block of Fairview Avenue.
They say their investigation revealed that 46-year-old Robert Harold Laroe and 56-year-old Robert John Vandeusen were involved in an altercation involving Laroes dog and that Vandeusen allegedly fired a pellet gun which struck Laroe in the abdomen.
Both were taken to the Hillsdale Hospital for injuries sustained during the altercation.
Sheriff Stan Burchardt says Laroe’s injuries were non life threatening. Vandeusen was later lodged at the Hillsdale County Jail for assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder and also on a warrant for possession of marijuana.
Deputies were assisted by the Reading Police Department. The Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the incident.
