JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy is being recognized for its dedication to employing military veterans as the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency has named the utility as a silver level Veteran-Friendly Employer.
Eight other Michigan companies have received the honor.
Employers are recognized for efforts to recruit and retain military veterans.
Consumers recently started a Natural Gas Boot Camp. They are working with the Michigan National Guard and Power for America in a program which trains qualified military veterans and provide them with job opportunities.
Three company vice presidents are also military veterans.
