EMMETT TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Police in Emmett Township are investigating the shooting deaths of a Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputy and his wife. The couple were found outside their home yesterday morning around 8 a.m., roughly seven hours after neighbors heard gunshots which they mistook for fireworks.
Emmett Township Public Safety investigators say the public is not in any danger, but haven’t said anything further about the nature of the shooting deaths.
The Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that the deputy was a 18 year veteran of the department. They are offering employee assistance for what is being called a devastating loss. The names of the deputy and his wife have not been released and the Sheriff’s Department says they will make no further statements on the incident.
