BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – An escaped animal at the Binder Park Zoo shut down the Wild Africa Exhibit for a couple of hours late yesterday morning.
Zoo officials says Neva, the waterbuck was spending her first day on the zoo’s 18-acre savannah and broke through an inner fence.
They say she never left the zoo property and the public was never in danger.
Trams to the exhibit were parked, for the safety of the animal, which was tranquilized and returned to the barn for a medical checkup.
