QUINCY, MI (WTVB) -A conditional rezoning request at the northeast corner of Depot Street and U.S. 12 in Quincy was withdrawn from Tuesday night’s Quincy Village Council meeting agenda after the Joint Planning Commission recommended that it be denied.
Village officials say petitioners Larry and Patricia Gardon requested the rezoning for the creation of a park and sell lot for automobiles and other vehicles. The property is zoned R-1 Single Family Residential.
Nearby neighbors also raised concerns about the request.
The property is currently used for storage units which is a legal nonconforming use but under Quincy’s zoning ordinance, such a use can not be expanded.
The request for a sales lot is only allowed in a Commercial Zoning District. In that case, an automobile lot would be allowed as a Special Land Use.
