COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two accidents in Coldwater on Monday kept Board of Public Utilities crews hopping as they had to repair damaged equipment.
The first accident took place just after 9:00am when a semi that had a wide load struck a car and then knocked down a utility pole and some wires near the intersection of East Chicago and Morse.
Traffic had to be rerouted away from the scene of the accident and onto Sprague and Marshall Streets for several hours.
The closure of a portion of East Chicago led to more cars than usual on East Pearl Street. No injuries were reported.
Just as things were settling down, another accident on Western Avenue near West Chicago around 1:10pm took out a BPU fuse cabinet and caused a power outage on the west side of Coldwater.
Coldwater Police say the accident was caused by a driver who went into diabetic shock. The man who was about 60 years old was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County for treatment.
