COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Redbirds dropped their opening game in the Mickey Mantle North Central Regional Tournament hosted by Coldwater on Wednesday, as they were beaten by the Rochester Rockies 7-4 at Borden Field.
Rochester took control of the game with a five run second inning. Colten Johns had three hits including a double for Coldwater.
The Redbirds second game in pool play against the Battle Creek Shamrocks was scoreless in the third inning when play was suspended by rain. The game is scheduled to resume later this morning.
The Redbirds wrap up pool play against Elite Strike Zone at 7:30pm tonight at Lowe Field.
The top eight teams in the three pools advance to bracket play starting on Friday morning. The championship game is scheduled to be played at 11:00am on Saturday morning at Lowe Field.
