COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Some real steamy weather is heading our way. National Weather Service forecasters are calling for highs near 90 on Thursday and into the 90’s on Friday and Saturday. Heat index readings could get as high as 110 on Friday and 101 on Saturday.
With some of the hottest weather of the summer expected later this week, Consumers Energy is offering some advice for residents and businesses as they expect energy use will be one third higher than average as the mercury gets above 90.
Set the air conditioning thermostat for your home or business at 78 degrees during the day and higher when you’re away.
Don’t cool unused areas. Close doors and registers to cut energy costs.
Block the summer sun by closing drapes, shades and blinds during the heat of the day.
Avoid using appliances that generate a lot of heat, such as stoves and clothes dryers and use your ceiling fans if you have them.
