COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler told county commissioners during their work session on Thursday that deputies transported seven female inmates to the Calhoun County Jail due to overcrowding in the female section of the Branch County Jail.
Eichler told Commissioners it doesn’t matter how much time the female inmates have left when they get transported to Calhoun County.
The prisoners were transported to Calhoun County after the female population went over 22 for seven straight days.
Friday morning’s jail population stood at 128, which included 22 females.
