ALLEN, MI (WTVB) – A father and son were badly burned Tuesday night in Hillsdale County when a boat motor they were working on exploded.
Michigan State Police say the blast happened at about 7:20 p.m. at a home in the area of Buelow and Jonesville Roads, northeast of Allen.
The 35-year-old son was pulled from the boat by his 62-year-old father.
The son was flown by Life Flight to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo with severe burns to his body.
The father suffered major burns and was transported to Hillsdale Hospital by Reading Emergency Ambulance before being transferred to Bronson Hospital.
Names of the victims were not released. The incident is still under investigation.
State Police got assistance from the Litchfield Township Fire Department, Reading Emergency Unit, the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department, Jonesville Police and the State Police Fire Investigation Unit.
