CENTREVILLE, MI M(WTVB) – The St. Joseph County Animal Shelter in Centreville has stop accepting new dogs after two dogs were diagnosed with Parvo, a highly contagious and sometimes deadly virus that affects man’s best friend.
Supervisor Josh Shook says the dogs have been quarantined and the shelter will be scrubbed down. The problem is that dogs can spread the disease whether or not they are showing symptoms and it will take a week or so to determine if any other dogs have become infected.
The office will be open to sell licenses but they won’t be accepting any new dogs or strays for now. They hope to resume normal operations next week.
