ANGOLA, MI (WTVB) – A Fremont man surrendered at the Steuben County Jail on Sunday afternoon for allegedly not registering as a sex offender.
61-year-old Dale R. Schaeffer was wanted on a Steuben Superior Court warrant charging him with failure to register as a sex or violent offender which is a level 6 felony in Indiana.
The warrant came after a Sheriff’s Office investigation into allegations that Schaeffer allegedly failed to report required information to the Sheriff’s Office Sex and Violent Offender Registry within the lawful 72 hour time limit.
Schaeffer was booked into the Steuben County Jail and was later released after posting 10 percent of a $5,000 bond.
