COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man who was accused of threatening two people with a knife in Quincy in May 2014 was sentenced on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered no contest pleas to a pair of charges.
Court officials say 27-year-old Edgar Alvarez was given a one year sentence with credit for 240 days already served to a charge of assault with a weapon. He will be allowed to serve his time on work release.
Alvarez also got a time already served sentence of 93 days for malicious destruction of property under $200.
The no contest pleas were filed as part of a plea bargain agreement.
In exchange for the pleas, five other charges were dismissed by prosecutors including two counts of assault with intent to murder.
